Wednesday Night Worship – A mid-week opportunity for teens to worship together with other teens and receive focused, biblical teaching aimed at how to die to themselves and pattern their lives after Christ. Then plan on staying with us afterwards for Open Gym from 7:30-8:30. And don’t forget to bring a friend!
EVENTS
DNOW
“DNOW” is a weekend focused on what it means to be a disciple of Christ in today’s world. This is a powerful weekend, away from all distractions, where students get to call on the name of the Lord without hindrance, and have the opportunity to be molded and shaped by their Creator.
Starting Friday night students will arrive at their Host Home (the home of one of our church members) for a time of Bible Study led by a Christian college student. They will stay at this home for the weekend with their peers studying God’s Word. On Saturday, the group will participate in a service project related to the topic of the weekend. The weekend will end on Sunday morning following Bible Study and the morning worship service.
30 Hour Famine
Famine weekend is an opportunity for teens to help raise awareness of the increasing dilemma of world hunger. The focus is for students to partner with World Vision, a non-profit Christian organization, in order to raise funds as support to help aide in fight. Funds are then used to provide seed, tools, and training to village farmers in Africa, Asia, Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, and the Caribbean so that they may be equipped to provide for their families.
During the weekend the students will take on the challenge of fasting (going without food) for 30 hours to get a ‘taste’ of what it means to experience true hunger. The effects of that physical hunger are then turned to help us understand our spiritual hunger and desire to follow in the steps of Christ as a servant to this world.
Summer Camp
Each summer we head to Camp Grand Oaks in Chilicothe for an awesome week of Youth Camp! Each day of camp is filled with times of Worship, Bible Study, Recreation, Swimming, the always popular ‘Snack Shack’, Free Time with frieds, and some pretty decent food! Really, the food isn’t bad at all…once they kill it! HA! Just kidding…
Students spend the week with their cabin groups, which are comprised of teens from our church and other churches in our association of the same grade. And usually by the end of the week, every cabin group has become a strong band of brothers and sisters in Christ. All the Jr. High guys stink, all the Jr. High girls smell of perfume, all the Sr. High guys have had at least one serious time, and all the Sr. High girls have cried and laughed at least 3,819 times. It’s awesome! Who could ask for anything more???
