Planning ahead - Sermon Ideas
One of my assignments for last week’s class is to develop a preaching plan. (I have done this off and on for several years). So, I thought I would toss it out there and see what you thought. We will finish the Essential 100 soon. So, I’m on the hunt.
- If I were to preach through an entire book of the Bible on Sunday morning, what should it be and how long should it take? (I’m thinking Leviticus
- I want to do a September emphasis and include a Friend Day on Sept 9, what would be a topic that would reach a large audience and keep them coming for say 4 weeks in a row? (Something on Community, Worship, Prayer, Relationships, etc.)
- What is a topic that you think is not usually covered in our worship services? (Missions? Just kidding!)
Be kind - I’m fragile!

In contrast to my brother Troy (love ya Troy!) I love the theme of John 15 of Jesus being the vine and we are the branches and in particular John 15:15 where Jesus says, \

For whatever reason all of my last post did not come through so I will pick up where I left off. (Sorry) John 15:15 says I no lnoger call you servants, because a servant does now know his master’s business. Instead, I have calle dyou friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. The idea that Jesus (God Himself) calls those who follow him friends is a concept that I don’t think many people understand or may have never heard at all. Just a thought. I know that whatever God leads you to do you will do a fine job.

I’m thinking John; it is for the common man; it cuts to the chase and says what needs to be said. Length of message, no longer than 1 hr 30 min. I KNOW I can keep from using the facility if it is under this time.
I agree with Troy, God’s Wrath is a good subject…it immediately gets my attention. A Fall theme for September perhaps…something with fall or falling or fallen…kind of a out of box thing.

This morning’s devotion was great. Psalm 90 verse 11. “Who can comprehend the power of your anger? Your WRATH is as awesome as the fear you diserve. Teach us to make the most of our time. So that we may grow in wisdom.” NLT Come on it doesn’t get any better then this……teach us to make the most of our time LORD!

On the back of one of our wrestling t-shirts some years ago was this quote(can’t remember the quotter): “Don’t count the days, make the days count!” Also, another topic would be Our Faith or our Lack of Faith in God to be God! It just blows my mind the lack of faith of some of the people I come in contact with…they want to put God in this neat little box; He doesn’t come in a box!

I am sure this is on the list for sometime soon but simplicity is a good subject. Don’t let our lives get so busy and complex that we leave Christ out. You know what I mean.
