Brian and Amy’s Twins

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

Many of you know Brian and Amy in our church. I had an opportunity to visit Amy today at the hospital and see the twins - Aiden and Maddisson. Here are some pictures.

This is Maddisson. She now weighs 3 lbs. 5 oz. We are praying that she can start maintaining her temperature.

This is Aiden. He now weighs 3 lbs. 7 oz. and is in a crib now because he can maintain his temp. We are praying for his breathing to improve.

Podcast: The Soils (Mark 4:1-20) May 20, 2008

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

You can’t read the Parable of the Soils (Sower) without asking the question: “So, which soil am I?” Take a look with me at this wonderful parable that Jesus so masterfully crafted to cut to the heart of our commitment. He begins the parable by saying, “Listen!”

Did I say that?

Monday, May 19th, 2008

Sometimes I hear or read things that contradict something that I have thought or said. I came across one such statement today:

“Christianity isn’t about do’s and don’ts.  It’s about a relationship.”  (As if the relationship were not guarded and preserved by rules.  Try telling your wife after you’ve had an affair, “Come on.  I thought our marriage was about the relationship, not all these do’s and don’ts.”) - Kevin DeYoung

I think what I have said is, “Christianity is not a religion, it is a relationship.” Still, I think the point is well taken. We need to be careful in not sacrificing the commands of the Bible in the name of relationship. If we do, we are fooling ourselves.

From Baccalaureate 08

Last night was our annual Baccalaureate sponsored by the Cameron Ministerial Alliance. Click on the picture to follow a link to several other pictures. Ward Foley was our guest speaker. He really did an amazing job of keeping our attention and sharing his story. He was hilarious. Everyone seemed to have a great time. We fed about 240 parent, seniors, and workers. We handed out 74 bibles out of 128 graduating seniors. Thank you to all of our churches that helped make this possible. Thank you to David Newkirk that coordinated the event.
