english class

Welcome to my hangout. We spend a lot of time here. I especially like their tamales. I have also come to know some of the workers. Many of them are from Mexico or still have family in Mexico. And many of them want to learn English or improve their English. Yesterday, one of the friends of our church started an English as a Second Language (ESL) class there yesterday. They have allowed her to come into the restaurant and teach one hour two hours before work begins! She was hoping for at least six students. She had nine! Wow! What a tremendous ministry. Along the way she will be able to not only teach practical English skills, but they will use the Bible for their text. Please pray for Ruth B. as she leads them. (She reads this blog).

Make some visits with me!

Saturday, October 27th, 2007

Join me as I attempt to make 6 visits in 4 hospitals. It is unusual to have this many visits to make. I thought I’d take you along and see how crazy things get when I’m alone with a camera. I left at about 8am and had to be home by 1pm. Can it be done?

We had See You At the Pole today at the flagpole between the high school and middle school. We have some incredible youth that prayed for God to change their lives, their school and their world.

Remarkable

Monday, February 26th, 2007

My friend Toby Frost at the North American Mission Board just finished an independent study on Emergent Church where he blogged for 40 hours, read a list of books and interviewed three leaders (Brian McClaren, Ed Stetzer, and Doug Pagitt). His paper is being published in the Midwestern Journal so I can’t put it here yet. But it has a great perspective coming from someone viewing from the outside. You can read one of his articles that is still in the top two pages of “Remarkable” on the Emergent Village website. It is called “Making Evangelism Good News.”

The original article is also here.
