Less Babies=Better Economy?

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

One of the objectives of the new “economic stimulus” plan would add more birth-control and family planning services to the states. Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, believes that reducing the number of babies will lessen the costs and increase the national standard of living.

She said: “The states are in terrible fiscal budget crises now, and part of what we do for children’s health, education and some of those elements are to help states meet their financial needs. One of those — one of the initiatives you mentioned, the contraception — will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government.” Speaker Nancy Malthus - WSJ.com.

This is flawed thinking. Our country is currently not producing enough children to keep up with labor. How can sacrificing children, help our economy today. Europe and Asia are struggling under a diminishing population. Japan alone is projected to lose 21% of its population by 2050.

The Bible encourages God’s people to “multiply.” Currently, we are falling far short of that command.

Three Minute Story

Put this banner on your website so others can hear the three minute story. It’s pretty cool. I know of 19 people that accepted Christ at NCMC in Trenton on Wednesday as a direct result of this video!

Jesus’ Titanic

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

According to director James Cameron (Titanic) this is the century’s greatest archaeological find.

This photo released in 2002 by the Biblical Archaeological Society(BAS) shows a bone box or ossuary which was found along with 10 ossuries with names etched into them in the Talpiot neighbourhood of Jerusalem during the construction of an appartment building in the 1980s. A documentary by

Cameron claims that Jesus ossuary has been found along with his “wife” Mary Magdalene and “son” Judah. The problem with this story is that although the same grave contained the names, Mary, Mary the Master, Judah son of Jesus, and Jesus son of Joseph, these were all very common names in the first century.

Update: Check out this news report. The reporter actually says, “With a story this good, facts are not going to get in the way.”

Update II: Cameron is claiming to have found Jesus’ bones, etc. However, not one has ever been able to explain away the empty tomb. Who rolled the stone away under Roman guard? Why would grave robbers fold the burial cloth? Why would the disciples think to mention the cloth? No one in all of history from that time refuted the claim of the empty tomb, they only sought to explain it away. Why would eleven men die (torturously) for a lie? One of them would have finally said, “Stop, we made it up!” They didn’t. Christ is real. He was fully man and fully God. That is the only way my sins could have been paid for on the cross. He reversed the curse of Adam, by living sinless and dying in my place.

Strangely enough: lease or buy

Here’s an interesting story of a widow, Ester Strogen of Canton, Ohio, that rented two rotary phones for 42 years. Now at the age of 82 her granddaughters finally cancelled the lease which was currently $29.10 each month. They estimate that Strogen has payed more than $14,000 for the outdated black rotary phones.

According to the phone company, “Benefits of leasing include free replacements and the option of switching to newer models.”

It was a problem of ownership. In 1960, when millions of phones were leased, people could not afford the new technology. I cannot afford to pay for my sin, but Christ pays the price in full through His sacrifice on the Cross. I don’t have to keep paying for my sin. Christ payed the price completely. It is not a lease agreement. It is an agreement of ownership.

By the way, change is not easy. The elderly woman says, “I’d like to have my rotary back. I like that better.”
